Instructor: Jackie Compton

Jackie Compton, M.A. in Education, RPSGT, RST, CCSH, is a former working sleep technologist. She sat on Highline College’s Advisory Board for the Polysomnographic Program until she became that Program’s course instructor for the sleep board review course.  Jackie is committed to helping sleep techs pass their credential exam and assisting polysomnographic students in understanding and completing their college PSG program.

While working as a sleep technologist, she realized that working sleep technicians who had learned on-the-job had difficulty passing the sleep board exams.  Jackie adjusted her sleep education curriculum and developed a tutoring service to help working techs learn the information they needed to pass the board exams.

Jackie wrote the first two chapters in the BRPT-recommended reference textbook Polysomnography for the Sleep Technologist: Instrumentation, Monitoring, and Related Procedures. She has also written sleep articles for websites and had a sleep article published in the August 2009 issue of Focus Respiratory Care and Sleep Medicine Magazine.

Jackie was a co-founder of the Washington State Sleep Society and was its first secretary.

Jackie also conducts community talks to the general public on sleep education.
